Picopack Selected for MSS '2026 Scale-Up TIPS R&D' Project

Picopack, an intelligent X-ray platform company based in Daejeon, announced that it has been selected as the lead organization for the "2026 Scale-Up TIPS" R&D project hosted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.
Scale-Up TIPS is a program that links private investment with government R&D support to help companies with high growth potential commercialize their technology and expand their markets.
The project undertaken by Picopack is the development of a "high-speed pulse, low-dose video portable X-ray." With a total project cost of 4 billion won, the company plans to build a modular portable X-ray platform specialized for video recording through this R&D initiative.
This project aims to implement a real-time video-based image diagnosis and inspection environment, expanding the functions of existing portable X-rays that have mainly been utilized for still image capturing. The concept is to enhance the platform's utility and scalability by applying a modular structure where components can be flexibly combined according to the shooting target and usage environment.
The company expects that the developed technology can be applied to various fields, including not only medical image diagnosis but also industrial non-destructive testing (NDT), defense and security, and disaster site response. In particular, it plans to verify its applicability in field environments requiring mobility and real-time shooting performance, thereby pushing for entry into related markets.
The industry observes that competitiveness in the portable X-ray market is shifting beyond mere equipment miniaturization toward the integration of low-dose shooting, image processing, and real-time analysis technologies.
Picopack has recently attracted new investments from Daejeon Investment & Finance, Sema Investment, and Daedeok Venture Partners, securing a cumulative investment of 9.8 billion won. Taking this project selection as an opportunity, the company plans to progressively pursue R&D, product commercialization, and field-specific verification.
"Based on private investment and government R&D support, we will secure a modular portable X-ray platform specialized for video recording," said Oh Geun-young, CEO of Picopack. "We will develop intelligent X-ray technologies applicable to various fields such as medical, industrial, defense, and security, while also expanding the foundation for entering overseas markets."
Picopack is an intelligent X-ray platform company that develops core X-ray components and imaging systems using its own proprietary technology. It is actively expanding its business areas to include industrial inspection equipment and the defense and security sectors, along with medical digital X-rays.
